INDIA’S FIRST STARTUP & TECH MUSEUM

NEWS – Bengaluru, India’s technology capital, is set to establish the country’s first Startup and Technology Museum by 2027. The initiative seeks to chronicle India’s journey in innovation, scientific progress and entrepreneurial growth, with Bengaluru as the focal point.

KEY FEATURES OF THE MUSEUM

  1. Location & Infrastructure
  • The museum will span 12,000 sq. m. within the repurposed Switch Gear factory shed at the NGEF campus, Baiyappanahalli.
  • It will operate under a Public–Private Partnership (PPP) between the Department of Electronics, IT&BT and S&T, and UnboxingBLR.
  • The project is being set up by the Karnataka Technology and Innovation Museum Foundation (KTIMF).
  1. Phased Development
  • Phase 1: Expected to be operational by 2027.
  • Phase 2: Likely to commence a year later.
  • Estimated project cost: ₹100 crore.

OBJECTIVES AND VISION

  1. Highlighting India’s Tech Evolution
  • The museum aims to showcase four to five decades of India’s technological growth.
  • Focus areas include:
    • India’s digital transformation
    • Bengaluru’s role as a startup hub
    • Contributions of entrepreneurs and innovators
  1. Future-Oriented Exhibits
  • The space will incorporate interactive technologies and experiential installations.
  • It will provide insights into future trends, emerging tech and India’s innovation landscape.
  • A global RFP (Request for Proposal) for the museum’s design will be floated within 30 days.
