ISRO TRANSFERS 5 KEY TECHNOLOGIES TO PRIVATE INDUSTRY

NEWS – The Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe) has facilitated the transfer of five indigenous technologies developed by ISRO to private companies. The move is aimed at boosting commercialisation, reducing import dependence, and expanding the use of space innovations across sectors such as automotive, biomedical, renewable energy, and industrial manufacturing. With this, the total number of Technology Transfer Agreements (TTAs) between ISRO and industries has reached 98.

Key Technologies Transferred

  1. Biomedical Application
  • Technology: Low Temperature Co-Fired Ceramic (LTCC) Multi-Chip Module
  • Developed by: Space Applications Centre (SAC)
  • Transferred to: Voltix Semicon Pvt. Ltd., Pune
  • Use: Integration of multiple semiconductor chips in compact modules for RT-PCR kits.
  • Significance: Reduces reliance on imports and enhances domestic manufacturing capacity in biomedical equipment.
  1. Renewable Energy Application
  • Technology: RTV Silicone Single-Part Adhesive (SILCEM R9)
  • Developed by: Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC)
  • Transferred to: Crest Speciality Resins Pvt. Ltd., Ahmedabad
  • Use: Bonding of solar panels.
  • Significance: Ensures local availability of adhesives, promoting indigenisation in renewable energy.
  1. Industrial Applications
  • Film Adhesives (EFA 1753 & EFA 1752) – VSSC → Azista Composites Pvt. Ltd., Hyderabad.
  • 30W HMC DC-DC Converter – UR Rao Satellite Centre (URSC) → Ananth Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Hyderabad.
  • Anodisation of 3D-printed Al-10Si-Mg alloy – URSC → Pushpak Aerospace India Pvt. Ltd., Bengaluru.
