NEWS – IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) unveiled its first-ever Mobile Outreach Vehicle outside the US in Bengaluru at the World Trade Centre.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Objective: The vehicle is aimed at promoting STEM education and enhancing emergency response capabilities in India.
- Design & Platform:
- Built on the Force Traveller T2 DV 4020 chassis.
- Engineered to handle India’s diverse terrain, including off-road conditions.
- Technological Features:
- Equipped with a solar and grid-interactive hybrid power system, featuring a lithium-ion battery bank providing up to 30 hours of power.
- Contains Wi-Fi 6e, 4G connectivity, and HAM radio systems for reliable communication during disasters.
- Educational Purpose:
- Contains interactive STEM kits to teach students about climate change, green technology, and disaster preparedness.
- Will initially cover over 100 schools per year in Karnataka, with plans to expand nationwide.
- Emergency Use:
- Functions as a mobile communication and education hub during natural disasters when traditional networks fail.
- Significance:
- Marks a major step in IEEE’s global outreach.
- Integrates education, sustainability, and resilience, tailored to Indian socio-geographic needs.
