PM DHAN-DHAANYA KRISHI YOJANA
NEWS : The Union Cabinet approved the ‘Prime Minister Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana’ (PMDDKY), which envisages development of 100 agricultural districts through the convergence of existing schemes with an annual outlay of Rs 24,000 crore per year
HIGHLIGHTS
Objective
- To merge 36 existing agriculture-related schemes.
- Promote sustainable agricultural practices.
- Enhance post-harvest infrastructure, irrigation, and farm productivity.
Implementation Strategy
- Will be executed through the convergence of schemes across 11 departments.
- Includes state schemes and public-private partnerships.
- Committees will be formed at district, state, and national levels for planning, implementation, and monitoring.
District Selection Criteria
- 100 districts chosen based on:
- Low productivity
- Low cropping intensity
- Low credit disbursement
- Minimum one district selected from each state/UT.
- District count in a state based on net cropped area and operational holdings.
Monitoring Mechanism
- Scheme performance tracked using 117 indicators.
- Real-time monitoring through a monthly dashboard system.
Expected Outcomes
- Improved access to long- and short-term credit.
- Strengthening post-harvest storage at panchayat and block levels.
- Boost to agricultural efficiency and income of farmers.
