Difference between Gender Equity and Gender Equality:
Gender Equity:

- Focus: It focuses on fairness and justice regarding the distribution of benefits, responsibilities, and opportunities.
- Approach: Gender equity often involves measures to compensate for women's historical and social disadvantages that prevent women and men from otherwise being equals.
- Outcome: Gender equity aims to achieve gender equality by acknowledging that men and women have different needs, preferences, and interests, and addressing these differences in a manner that rectifies the imbalances.
Gender Equality:
- Definition: Gender equality refers to the state in which access to rights or opportunities is unaffected by gender. It is the equal valuing by society of both the similarities and differences between men and women, and the roles they play.
- Focus: It focuses on ensuring that men and women have the same opportunities, rights, and responsibilities in all areas of life.
- Approach: Gender equality implies that the interests, needs, and priorities of both women and men are taken into consideration, recognizing the diversity of different groups of women and men.
- Outcome: The ultimate goal is a society in which both women and men have equal opportunities, rights, and responsibilities, and where the gender of an individual does not determine their life chances and outcomes.
