Human migration is the movement of people from one place in the world to another.

Causes of Migration :

The causes are broadly classified as :

1) Pull factors -  which attract migrant (in-migration) to an area (destination).

2) Push Factors - those that compel a person, due to different reasons, to leave a place of origin (out-migration) and migrate to some other place

In general the causes are -

1. Political Issues -
   1. Political disturbances and inter-ethnic conflicts
   2. Political instability in a region
2. Social issues -
   1. Overpopulation
   2. Marriage
   3. Better facilities like health, education etc
3. Economic -
   1. Urbanization
   2. Better standards of living
   3. Increase in the demand for labour in urban areas coupled with better wages
   4. Seasonal migration for employment in different areas and different instances and industries ( Example : Rice harvest season in West Bengal and the sugar cane harvest in Gujarat)
4. Environmental -
   1. Droughts, floods, extreme weather conditions

From the analysis of causes it is clear that migration does not happen at any particular situation. It is continuous in nature.
