NEWS – In a first-of-its-kind model of convergence, Kanger Valley National Park is working with a coalition of various organizations and government departments to prepare a landscape-based ecological restoration plan for the national park

KANGER VALLEY NATIONAL PARK

• National park and a wildlife sanctuary located in the Bastar district of Chhattisgarh, India
• Situated in the Bastar district of Chhattisgarh, approximately 27 kilometers south of Jagdalpur
• Established in 1982 to preserve the region’s diverse flora and fauna.
• Characterized by a diverse landscape that includes hills, plateaus, rivers, and dense forests.

• Flora – teak, bamboo, sal, and other tropical and deciduous trees.

• Renowned for its limestone caves, including the famous Kanger Dhara cave.
• One of the notable caves within the park is the Kotumsar Cave, known for its impressive formations and underground chambers. The cave system extends for several kilometers, and guided tours are available for visitors
• Tirathgarh Waterfall is a picturesque waterfall located within the national park. The waterfall cascades down from a height, creating a serene and refreshing atmosphere
• The region surrounding Kanger Valley is inhabited by various tribal communities, including the Dhurva and Maria tribes
• Kanger Valley National Park attracts nature lovers, wildlife enthusiasts, and adventure seekers + offers opportunities for trekking, bird watching, and exploring the unique geological features.
