NEWS – India is in advanced discussions with Oman, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Maldives, and Singapore to establish cross-border electricity transmission lines as part of the ambitious ‘One Sun One World One Grid’ (OSOWOG) initiative.

Overview of OSOWOG Initiative
- Proposed by: The Prime Minister of India at the First Assembly of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) in October 2018.
- Objective: To create a transnational electricity grid supplying power globally, primarily focusing on renewable energy.
- Collaborating Entities: India and the UK, in partnership with the International Solar Alliance (ISA) and the World Bank Group.
Vision and Goals
- Global Energy Integration: Connect regional grids across continents to enable cross-border renewable energy transfer.
- Maximizing Renewable Energy Potential: Leverage solar and other renewable sources from around the world, utilizing regions where the sun is shining to supply areas in need.
- Target Coverage: Supply power to around 140 countries via a common, clean, and efficient grid.
