News: The Karnataka Government has ordered the implementation of ‘Gramanubhava’ to provide school and college students first-hand exposure to rural life, including agriculture, fishing, animal husbandry, art and culture.

• Implementing Agencies: Samagra Shikshana Karnataka (SSK) and School Education Department.
• Target Students: Classes 8, 9 and 11 in government, aided and unaided schools in urban areas.
• Initial Coverage: Around 2,15,577 students.

Key Features

• Village Stay: Students will stay in villages for one night and two days.
• Practical Exposure: Agriculture, farming techniques, horticulture, floriculture and rural culture.
• Rural Learning: Exposure to traditions, art and village life.
• Teacher Support: Each group will be accompanied by five teachers.

Implementation

• Cost: Estimated at ₹2.46 crore.
• Technical Partner: Department of Agriculture.
• Period: Village visits will be arranged between September and December.
