NEWS – Birth Anniversary of Dr Shivakumara Swamiji celebrated

HIGHLIGHTS

• Shivakumara Swamiji was born on April 1, 1907, in Veerapura Village
• He was initiated into the holy order in 1930 by his Guru, Shree Uddanashivayogi, and later became the Muttadhyaksha (Head) of Sree Siddaganga Mutt in 1941.
• Known for his philanthropic activities, Swamiji provided free education, food, and shelter to over 10,000 children aged 5 to 16, regardless of their background.
• Swamiji has established educational institutions that blend traditional Sanskrit learning with modern science and technology, showcasing his profound knowledge in various languages.
• Swamiji had created an inclusive and harmonious environment in the mutt where people from all religions and creeds work together for common upliftment
• In recognition of his endless social service, Swamiji was awarded the prestigious Karnataka Ratna in 2007, the highest civilian honor given by the Karnataka Government.
