NEWS: Karnataka Department of Prisons signed an MoU with R.V. College of Engineering (RVCE), Bengaluru to enhance inmate rehabilitation through skill-based training.
HIGHLIGHTS

KEY INITIATIVES
- Establishment of 2 computer labs for: Data entry training, Basic computer courses
- Vocational training in: Electrical work, Plumbing, Carpentry, Gardening
- Industrial activities: Readymade garment units, Jasmine oil extraction, Soap manufacturing
- Special initiative: Beautician course for women inmates
ADDITIONAL MEASURES
- Expansion of prison-run bakery units
- Proposal to set up petrol stations on prison land
- Revenue generated → reinvested in inmate welfare & rehabilitation
