Why in news?
Okhla Bird Sanctuary is a paradise for birdwatcher which host the rare and endangered birds.
- It is situated in Noida, Gautam Buddh Nagar district, on Delhi-Uttar Pradesh state border
- River: Yamuna
- Sanctuary by the Government of Uttar Pradesh under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.
- It hosts two critically endangered (CR) species (white-rumped vulture and Indian vulture)
- It is now one of the Important Bird Areas in India.
