Why in news? Oncologist R Ravi Kannan wins Ramon Magsaysay Award 2023

Highlights:

• The Assam-based surgical oncologist Dr. R Ravi Kannan won the award for revolutionising the treatment of cancer in Assam through his people-centered and pro-poor programmes
• Kannan shared this year’s award with Korvi Rakshand (Bangladesh), Miriam Coronel-Ferrer (Philippines) and Eugenio Lemos (Timor-Leste).
