NEWS – Union expands Simplified Certification Scheme to include 37 more products

SIMPLIFIED CERTIFICATION SCHEME (SCS)

• For applicants dealing with Group A equipment + submit a test-wise compliance sheet and a Self-Declaration of Conformity (SDoC) for parameters included in ERs
• Nodal agency – Telecommunication Engineering Centre TEC of Department of Telecommunications
• All rules and procedures applicable to the General Certification Scheme (GCS) are applicable to SCS, with the exception that test reports submitted by the applicant will not be evaluated by TEC
• newly included products cover a diverse range, including media gateways, IP security equipment, IP terminals, optical fibre or cable, transmission terminal equipment, and more
• Benefit : Govt certification of products – increases market + ensures the quality and compliance of telecom equipment, contributing to the reliability and safety of products in the telecommunications sector + encouraging innovation, and facilitating faster time-to-market for certified products
