  • Well-known novelist, playwright and poet K T Gatti passed away. Gatti’s first novel in Kannada language was ‘Shabdagalu’ which was published in 1976. ‘Shabdagalu’, before being published as a novel, had appeared as a serial in the weekly Kannada magazine, Sudha, sister publication of Deccan Herald. His non-fiction books – ‘Parenting for Excellency’, ‘Bilingual Master’, ‘Teach your Child English and Kannada Together’, ‘Learn English Naturally through Kannada’ and others have been hailed as significant contributions to education.
