Project BRAHMANK, a key initiative of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), strengthens strategic border connectivity, defence logistics, and socio-economic development in Arunachal Pradesh while advancing India's border infrastructure and regional connectivity.
NEWS: Project BRAHMANK of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) celebrated its 16th Raising Day on 29 June 2026 at Ranaghat, Arunachal Pradesh.
ABOUT PROJECT BRAHMANK
- Established by carving out areas from Project Arunank and Project Udayak.
- Develops and maintains strategic road infrastructure in Siang, East Siang, West Siang, Upper Siang, Shi-Yomi (Arunachal Pradesh) and parts of Dhemaji (Assam).
- Responsible for 811 km of roads and 86 bridges.
Major projects include:
- 100-metre Steel Arch Bridge over Siyom Nallah.
- 165-metre PSC Bridge over Simang Nallah on the Along–Yingkiong Road.
- Enhances border connectivity, defence preparedness, civilian mobility, and socio-economic development.
ABOUT BORDER ROADS ORGANISATION (BRO)
- Established: 7 May 1960 with Project Vartak and Project Beacon.
- Ministry: Ministry of Defence.
- Functions under the Border Roads Development Board (BRDB).
- Operates 18 field projects across 11 States and 3 Union Territories.
- Responsible for strategic border infrastructure, all-weather connectivity, and disaster response.
MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS OF BRO
- Constructed Atal, Sela, and Shinkun La Tunnels.
- Built Siyom, Sisseri, and Devak Bridges.
- Upgraded Bagdogra and Barrackpore airfields.
- Overseas projects include Project DANTAK (Bhutan), India–Myanmar Friendship Road, Delaram–Zaranj Highway (Afghanistan), and infrastructure projects in Tajikistan.
