NEWS – Tripura aims to globally market its GI-tagged queen variety pineapples after success in Dubai and the Netherlands.

• State fruit of Tripura (Declared 2018)
• Golden-yellow
• Known for unique aroma and soft, juicy interior
• Accorded the GI tag in 2023
• Flourish in unique hilly and humid climate with minimal chemical intervention

OTHER NOTES

• Tripura produces approximately 1,74,016 metric tonnes of pineapples annually. Out of this, around 10,000 metric tonnes constitute the marketable surplus that meets quality and size standards for sale and export
