EXTENDED RANGE ANTI-SUBMARINE ROCKET (ERASR)
NEWS – DRDO successfully completed user trials of the Extended Range Anti-Submarine Rocket (ERASR) from INS Kavaratti between June 23–July 7, 2025.
HIGHLIGHTS
Developed by: ARDE, Pune (DRDO), in collaboration with HEMRL (Pune) and NSTL (Visakhapatnam).
Features:
- Fully indigenous design
- Twin-rocket motor configuration
- Compatible with Indigenous Rocket Launcher (IRL) on Navy ships
- High precision via indigenous Electronic Time Fuze
Trial Results:
- 17 ERASR rockets tested
- Parameters evaluated: range, fuze functioning, warhead reliability
- All trial objectives successfully met
Strategic Significance:
- Boosts blue-water deterrence
- Increases ASW strike reach and effectiveness
