NEWS – Karnataka Home Minister Dr. G Parameshwara launched the ‘Mane Manege Police’ (Door-to-Door Police) initiative in M C Layout, Vijayanagara, Bengaluru.

HIGHLIGHTS

• Aim: To promote citizen-police trust by bringing the police directly to people’s homes.
• Police personnel will:
  • Visit homes,
  • Interact with residents,
  • Address grievances,
  • Collect data in a register (later digitised).
• Handbook, register, and sticker released to aid implementation.
• Public awareness videos showcased:
  • Information on common crimes,
  • Use of the Safe Connect app (real-time two-way emergency communication),
  • 50 safety islands across Bengaluru for emergency SOS support.
• The Home Minister called it India’s first such community policing model, stressing public engagement and accountability.
• Citizens appreciated the approach for making police more accessible and less intimidating.
