BWSSB TO USE JAPANESE TECH TO TREAT CHEMICAL WASTEWATER
NEWS – The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) plans to implement cutting-edge Japanese technology to treat chemical wastewater generated in Peenya Industrial Area
This initiative aims to address environmental concerns caused by untreated wastewater and promote eco-friendly practices in one of Asia’s largest industrial zones.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Current Challenges:
- Peenya Industrial Area houses numerous industries producing significant volumes of chemical wastewater, with many small and micro-industries lacking proper effluent treatment facilities.
- Untreated wastewater from these industries often contaminates local water bodies and groundwater, posing environmental risks.
- Proposed Solution: Mobile Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP):
- BWSSB intends to install a state-of-the-art mobile ETP in Peenya Industrial Area, leveraging Japanese technology.
- The mobile ETP will treat chemical wastewater directly at the industries’ premises, facilitating reuse of the treated water and reducing environmental impact.
- Benefits and Impact:
- Implementation of the mobile ETP is expected to lower water costs for industries and improve production efficiency.
- Reusing treated water will contribute to sustainable practices, prevent water pollution, and promote eco-friendly operations in the industrial zone.
- Ultimately, these measures aim to enhance the area’s reputation as a leading eco-friendly industrial hub and contribute to lowering product prices for consumers.
